Calibration, validationd and long-term monitoring of the instrument performances and the quality of the retrieved geophysical information is performed in the context of various satellite missions and frameworks, for instance:
- assessment of wind scatterometers, such as quikscat
- long-term assessment of wind and wave measurement by altimeters
- assessment of SAR wind and wave measurements
This activity also addresses the validation of higher level geophysical products merging several sources of data, as:
- validation of the Odyssea sea surface temperature (SST) analysis, or other SST products from MyOcean project
Tools and resources implemented for these activities include validation database (for instance in situ measurement, model data), colocation tools and complete software suites for the analysis of the results.
