CERSAT is expert laboratory for the retrieval of wave measurements with SAR. It is therefore involved in the monitoring of the performances and the quality assessment of the satellite missions embedding such instrument. This section provides bulletins and resources for these activities.


We are in particular funded by ESA for the quality assessment of SAR radars operating in wave mode, as existing on ERS-1, ERS-2, Envisat and Sentinel-1 missions. The following subsections provides quality information and resources for these missions.

Quality monitoring of ODYSSEA analysis
ODYSSEA is the CERSAT product line for high resolution Sea Surface Temperature (SST) analyses (L4) analyses. The quality of ODYSSEA products is monitored through comparisons with verious sources and are updated daily. The bias and standard deviation of these differences are presented here as time series plots with interactive features.
Long-term wind/waves
We present long term validation of significant wave height (SWH) and wind speed measurements from altimeters and scatterometers. Simple statistics show that differences and trends exist among the altimeters, for both wind speed and SWH estimates.
